Coláiste Dhúlaigh film Larry the Bastard on BBC 2 One of the big stories of Coláiste Dhúlaigh's film production course has been the success of graduate film Larry the Bastard directed by Martina Carey and Amanda Mulderry. Larry was recently screened on BBC 2 as part of the Blast Beyond series. This series is aimed at filmmakers in the 20 – 24 year old age bracket and Larry was one of a small number of films chosen from what the BBC described as an “overwhelming response”. Micheál Jacob, Creative Head of Mainstream Comedy, BBC spoke about the film after its' screening and said of Larry “…it was such a good pay off and such a good laugh at the end that I think it worked very well”. Larry has also been screened at the Galway Film Fleadh and has been acquired for distribution by Network Television Ireland who sold the film to RTE. The film was screened by RTE as part of the Short Screen series. The screenplay for Larry was nominated for Best Film Script at the Oxygen SMEDIA Awards 2005.
