COLÁISTE DHÚLAIGH FILM PRODUCTION NEWS ISSUE 4 JANUARY 06 One of the big stories of Coláiste Dhúlaigh's film production course has been the success of graduate film Larry the Bastard directed by Martina Carey and Amanda Mulderry. Larry was recently screened on BBC 2 as part of the Blast Beyond series. This series is aimed at filmmakers in the 20 – 24 year old age bracket and Larry was one of a small number of films chosen from what the BBC described as an “overwhelming response”. Micheál Jacob, Creative Head of Mainstream Comedy, BBC spoke about the film after its' screening and said of Larry “…it was such a good pay off and such a good laugh at the end that I think it worked very well”. In January of last year Sam Carroll represented Coláiste Dhúlaigh at FIPA, a film festival held in Biarritz, France. This Irish Film Institute initiative sees four individual film students from four individual film colleges attend the festival and shoot a documentary while staying there. The completed documentary – Festival Face Off - was screened in the IFI in the autumn. Jonathan Lambert represents the college this year. Anna Harrison is working independently as trainee assistant director ( The Front Line ) and as production assistant with Rocket Productions (various commercials). Stephen Synnott has wrapped his low budget feature film Forget Yourself in Castleblayney, Co Monaghan. Finally, we are now installed in our new facility within Coláiste Dhúlaigh which includes six individual editing suites and a multi purpose classroom.
